Wike warns FCT Senator Kingibe: “You won’t return to the Senate in 2027”

In a recent event marking the commencement of construction for the Mabushi Bus Terminal in Abuja, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, expressed strong criticism towards Senator Ireti Heebah Kingibe, who represents the territory. Wike asserted that Kingibe would face a loss of support from FCT residents in the upcoming election cycle. He lamented the lack of cooperation from Kingibe towards the FCT Administration, noting instead her apparent displeasure with residents’ praise directed at him.

“I overheard somebody on Arise TV this morning. Unfortunately, I heard the person is a member of the National Assembly and it is unfortunate I say so. With all due respect, what you don’t know, you don’t know, what you know you know, and the good thing for you is to tell people you don’t when you don’t know, then people will educate you.”

Wike continued to emphasize the achievements of his administration within a relatively short period since assuming office, alongside the Minister of State. He rebutted criticism aimed at their tenure’s productivity, challenging legislators like Kingibe to account for their contributions, particularly in enhancing education and healthcare through legislative actions.

“You said there are no hospitals. You, as a legislator, what have you done? How many bills have you sponsored for us to improve our education and health sector?”

In a bold challenge, Wike openly invited Kingibe to contest in the next election, confidently predicting her failure at the polls in 2027. He asserted that the circumstances leading to her previous electoral victory would not repeat themselves, affirming his dominance over FCT politics and dismissing any fears of opposition.

“FCT is my territory, and I am not afraid,” Wike declared, urging the public to embrace honesty and expressing no interest in seeking friendship through appeasement.

Earlier, during a televised program, Kingibe had criticized Wike’s stewardship in the FCT, asserting her lack of personal rapport with the minister.
