Travelers kidnapped on Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode expressway rescued

The Ogun State Police Command announced on Wednesday that four travelers who were abducted on the Sagamu-Ijebu-Ode Expressway last Sunday have been released. Omolola Odutola, the spokesperson for the state command, confirmed this in a statement. She mentioned that the anti-kidnapping team of the state police command rescued them along the Ogere axis of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. The rescued individuals include Ola and three Indian nationals.

In her statement, Odutola said, “Ola, Pujan, and two other Indian nationals, whose names are yet unknown, have regained their freedom along Ogere inward Lagos-Ibadan expressway. Efforts are ongoing to arrest the fleeing suspects.”

Commissioner of Police Abiodun Alamutu had earlier instructed the anti-kidnapping unit to commence a search for the criminals responsible for the attack and abduction of the travelers. The incident occurred between the Sagamu Area Command of the Nigeria Police and Ilisan township. According to Wemmy Osude, Chairman of Ilisan Development Council, additional victims were taken into the bush by the criminals.

The release of the abducted travelers marks a significant development in the ongoing efforts by the Ogun State Police Command to combat crime and ensure the safety of residents and travelers along major highways.
