President Bola Tinubu is set to leave Abuja for Lagos State on Friday in anticipation of the Eid-el-Kabir festivities.
This decision was communicated in a statement released on Friday by his spokesperson, Ajuri Ngelale. Tinubu plans to observe Eid-el-Kabir in Lagos and spend the holiday there, engaging in prayers and reflecting on Nigeria’s transformation in alignment with his Renewed Hope Agenda.
Saudi Arabia previously announced June 16 as Sallah day following the sighting of the Dhul Hijjah crescent, marking the commencement of the 12th Islamic month.
Eid Al Adha, a significant Islamic festival, falls on the 10th of Dhu Al Hijjah. Celebrated by Muslims worldwide, it is the second major Islamic festival following Eid-ul-Fitr. Saudi’s recent announcement designates Friday as the start of the holy month.
Additionally, the Hajj pilgrimage for 1445 AH-2024 is scheduled to commence on Friday, June 14, with the day of Arafah falling on Saturday, June 15. This arrangement places the Muslim festival, Eid Al-Adha, to be observed on Sunday, June 16, 2024, with Arafat Day preceding it on June 15.
