The battle for the prestigious women’s trophy in this year’s President Federation Cup is set to reach its climax with the determination of the finalists emerging from the semi-final clashes scheduled for Sunday, 23rd June. The matches, set to unfold in Enugu and Awka, promise thrilling encounters as four formidable teams vie for a chance to etch their names in Nigerian football history.

“In-form Rivers Angels of Port Harcourt, seasoned champions in the women’s version of Nigeria’s oldest Cup competition, will square off against Delta Queens in Awka. Meanwhile, the promising newcomers, Remo Stars Ladies, will clash with Abuja-based Naija Ratels at the iconic Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu. Kick-off for both matches is slated for 4pm.”

Rivers Angels, last year’s runners-up, demonstrated their championship pedigree with a commanding 5-0 victory over Osun Babes at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium in Enugu. The resounding win underscored their status as a force to be reckoned with in Nigerian women’s football. At the same time, Remo Stars Ladies secured their spot in the semi-finals by prevailing over Nasarawa Amazons in a tense penalty shootout held in Benin City.

“Naija Ratels also faced nerve-wracking moments in their journey to the semi-finals, overcoming FC Robo Queens of Lagos in another penalty shootout drama at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.”

Delta Queens asserted their dominance earlier in the tournament with a convincing 2-0 victory over Sunshine Queens from Akure in Benin City. Their performance sets the stage for a compelling showdown against Rivers Angels in Awka, promising an electrifying encounter for football enthusiasts.

The culmination of both the men’s and women’s competitions will unfold at the MKO Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Saturday, 29th June. This historic event marks the first time that the grand finale of Nigeria’s oldest Cup competition will be hosted in the nation’s capital, adding significance to an already highly anticipated event in the Nigerian football calendar.

As anticipation builds towards the finals, football fans across Nigeria eagerly await to witness which teams will emerge victorious in their quest for glory. The President Federation Cup continues to be a beacon of excellence and fierce competition in Nigerian football, showcasing the best talents and providing unforgettable moments for players and spectators alike.
