Construction giant, Julius Berger, has reaffirmed its commitment to a strong partnership with the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) FCT Council, while pledging to continue delivering high-quality infrastructure across Nigeria.
The company made this commitment during a courtesy visit by the newly elected NUJ FCT Council executives to Julius Berger’s head office in Abuja on Thursday.
Welcoming the delegation on behalf of the company’s management, Mr Emmanuel Isibor, Julius Berger’s Media Relations Manager, expressed appreciation for the media’s role in highlighting the firm’s work. He also outlined some of the company’s ongoing projects and their impact on national development.
Speaking during the meeting, Mr Isibor emphasised Julius Berger’s dedication to corporate social responsibility (CSR), particularly in education.
“We have done a lot in the area of education because we believe that everyone has a right to be educated,” he said.
He assured the NUJ FCT Council that Julius Berger would continue to support the union’s activities and collaborate on initiatives that enhance public awareness of the company’s efforts.
Reflecting on past partnerships, he recalled Julius Berger’s support for the NUJ during the COVID-19 pandemic, assuring that the company is keen to strengthen its engagement with the media.
“We will always maintain our high standards. There is no room for compromise here. Julius Berger remains a solid multinational construction company, and we will continue to uphold excellence,” Isibor added.
In response, Comrade Grace Ike, Chairman of the NUJ FCT Council, expressed appreciation for Julius Berger’s longstanding collaboration with the media. She noted that the visit aimed to deepen ties and enhance media coverage of the company’s projects.
“Julius Berger is one of the first names that come to mind when we talk about construction in Nigeria. The company has played a pivotal role in shaping Nigeria’s infrastructure, and this relationship should be strengthened,” she said.
She emphasised the importance of fostering a mutually beneficial partnership, where Julius Berger maintains a physical presence within the NUJ FCT Council. This, she said, would enable better communication and coordination between both parties.
“We look forward to a stronger relationship with Julius Berger, ensuring that its contributions to national development are effectively communicated to the public,” Ike added.
