Anioma State: Group Threatens Senator Nwoko with Recall

Must Read

A Delta State socio-political group, the Ndokwa Renaissance, has expressed strong dissatisfaction with Senator Ned Nwoko, who represents the Delta North Senatorial District in the Senate. The group has even threatened to mobilize the people of Delta North to recall him from his senatorial position. This decision was reached after an emergency National Executive meeting held yesterday in Abuja.

The group’s displeasure stems from comments made by Senator Nwoko on the Senate floor. He called for the creation of Anioma State, suggesting it be carved out of Delta State in the South-South region and ceded to the South East. Nwoko’s proposal was aimed at addressing the alleged marginalization of the South East geo-political zone. However, this suggestion did not sit well with the Ndokwa Renaissance.

In a resolution signed by the group’s president, Hon. Chinedu Ebgenumolise, and its secretary, Dr. Uti Onyeukwu, the Ndokwa Renaissance condemned Nwoko’s proposal. They argued that the senator had not consulted with the people of Delta North, who would be significantly impacted by such a move. The group stressed that Delta North has always been an integral part of the South-South region from the colonial era to the present day. They found it perplexing that Nwoko would want to incorporate the peaceful and progressive Anioma land into the South East, where violent agitation for secession has heightened insecurity.

“We must emphasize that the long overdue and very deserving creation of Anioma State is a dream we fondly hold dear as Anioma people and will work in support of any genuine effort towards the early realization of this noble aspiration,” the resolution stated. The group felt that Senator Nwoko’s geopolitical re-engineering could cause devastating geopolitical dislocation that might be irrecoverable for their people.

Furthermore, the group highlighted the political intricacies and volatile situation in the South East region. They pointed out that the region has a historical tendency towards violence and widespread disdain for Nigeria and its institutions. This has often resulted in a blanket of siege over the region from both state and non-state actors.

The Ndokwa Renaissance believes that Anioma State deserves to be created, but they are adamant that it should remain within the South-South geo-political zone. They feel that moving it to the South East would not only be a disservice to the people of Delta North but also expose them to unnecessary risks. The group is resolute in their stance and determined to ensure that any efforts to create Anioma State align with the wishes and best interests of the Anioma people.

In conclusion, the Ndokwa Renaissance is prepared to take significant action against Senator Ned Nwoko if he continues to push for the creation of Anioma State in a manner that disregards the input and welfare of his constituents. They are committed to protecting the integrity and future of Delta North within the South-South region and are willing to mobilize the people to recall Nwoko if necessary. The group’s resolution serves as a clear message that they will not tolerate any actions that could potentially destabilize their community or undermine their long-held aspirations for the creation of Anioma State within the South-South region.
