Allen Onyema, Chairman of Air Peace, received the prestigious “Outstanding Support/Service to the Nigerian Army” award during the 2024 Nigerian Army Day celebration at Maxwell Khobe Cantonment in Jos, Plateau State, on July 6, 2024.
The ceremony was graced by notable dignitaries including the Minister of Defence, Mohammed Abubakar; Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State; and Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State.
Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff, lauded Onyema for his consistent utilization of Air Peace and other ventures to foster Nigeria’s progress. He emphasized that the award recognizes Onyema’s dedication to national development.
In 2014, upon Air Peace’s inception, Onyema launched a special initiative offering discounted flight tickets to Nigerian Army officers, priced at N10,000 each.
Expanding their support in 2022, Air Peace implemented a priority boarding policy exclusively for military personnel, acknowledging their indispensable contributions to the nation.
“It is our way of expressing gratitude for their service to the country,” Onyema affirmed, underscoring his commitment to uplifting and bolstering the Nigerian military.
During the Nigerian Defence Academy’s 33rd Convocation Ceremony in Kaduna in September 2023, where he was conferred with a Doctor of Management Science Degree, Onyema pledged to introduce discounted flight fares for retired Nigerian military officers, further solidifying his support for veterans.
