“Adeboye: Even Anointing Can’t Overcome Sexual Temptation”

Must Read
The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has made a significant declaration regarding sexual temptation. He emphasized that no amount of anointing could protect someone from such temptations. Adeboye, who has spent many years in the ministry, revealed that he remains vigilant against sexual immorality despite his ‘anointing’ and extensive experience.

Pastor Adeboye shared that he still takes precautions to avoid any form of sexual temptation, even at his advanced age. He mentioned that he runs faster than ever to steer clear of these temptations. This statement was made to underline the seriousness and ever-present nature of sexual temptation, regardless of one’s spiritual stature or age.

During his sermon at the recently concluded Ministers and Workers’ Conference of RCCG Americas 1, which covers North, Central, and the Caribbean, with the theme “The Glory Ahead,” Adeboye warned ministers of the gospel to be cautious of sexual immorality. He advised against the erroneous belief that their ‘anointing’ could shield them from all temptations.

In his sermon, which was shared on his YouTube page over the weekend, Adeboye referenced the biblical story of Samson. He noted that despite Samson’s anointing and his remarkable strength, he fell into sexual immorality. He said, “Somebody says, at your age, why are you still running? I run faster than before because the closer you get to the finishing point, the more careful you must be.”

He continued, “Some of you can say, ‘Daddy, what are you saying, are you still running?’ I run fast. ‘With all your anointing?’ Does anointing turn your body to stone? Samson was anointed. Single-handedly, he killed a thousand soldiers. A woman finished him. I hope the boys are listening.”

Pastor Adeboye warned that it is not about whether someone is interested in an older man but rather about the enemy’s desire to undermine the great works that God has accomplished through an individual. “You can say, ‘Is anybody still interested in an 82-year-old man?’ She is not interested in you but interested in putting an end to all the great works God has done through you.”

He advised men to be wary of women who smile at them frequently and are not their wives. He said, “You see that woman smiling at you everywhere you go, she is there smiling, and she is not your wife, run.”

Adeboye also had words of caution for the youth, urging them to be mindful of lust and to avoid anything that resembles sin. He added, “And you girls when you see a boy smiling at you saying, ‘where have you been all my life? It looks as if the sun has just come out.’ He is calling you sunshine. By the time he finishes with you, you won’t even know the difference between sunshine and sunset. You may laugh but mark my words.”

He shared advice he gives to his own children, particularly the boys, saying, “I do warn my children, particularly the boys. I said if the devil comes against you, tell the devil to get lost, but when you see a girl smiling at you in a funny way, run because you can’t win the battle.”

Pastor Adeboye highlighted the long-lasting consequences of sexual sin, noting how a man’s ministry can be destroyed decades after an offense. “Didn’t you read a report that a man committed an offence about 42 years ago, and now his ministry is finished? Anybody who tells you that whatever you do is hidden, it’s hidden until the wind begins to blow.”

He concluded by reminding the youth of biblical teachings, stating, “The Bible says, flee youthful lust. It did not ask you to say grace would be sufficient. There is no grace for what God says you should run from. Maybe, grace to run.”
