Federal High Court To Hear Suit on Ganduje’s Removal

Must Read

A Federal High Court in Abuja has scheduled a hearing for June 26, 2024, to consider a lawsuit seeking the removal of Abdullahi Ganduje as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Justice Inyang Ekwo disclosed this decision on Thursday, June 13, noting that the court will also address objections raised concerning the lawsuit’s validity.

This ruling follows a request by Benjamin Favour, representing the plaintiff, the North Central APC Forum, seeking time to respond to Ganduje’s filings.

The lawsuit challenges Ganduje’s appointment as APC chairman, citing his lack of affiliation with the North Central geopolitical zone. Defendants named in the suit include Ganduje, the APC, and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

Despite the case being listed for hearing, it was postponed due to delayed submissions from Ganduje’s legal team. The court rescheduled the hearing for June 26, indicating that the preliminary objection will be addressed alongside the substantive suit.

Any absent party’s filings will be deemed adopted by the court.
