Kwara University Penalizes Student for Creating Offensive Skits

Must Read

The management of Kwara State University, Malete, recently took action by disabling the portal of a male student who allegedly appeared in a skit involving inappropriate contact with females. According to Dr. Saeedat Aliyu, the Acting Director of University Relations, this measure was implemented as a preliminary disciplinary action while awaiting the findings of the Student Disciplinary Committee’s investigation.

Dr. Aliyu emphasized that such skits do not align with the university’s core values or the ethical standards upheld by the majority of KWASU students. “KWASU prides itself on nurturing well-rounded graduates who embody both exemplary character and academic excellence, and we maintain a strict policy against any form of misconduct,” she stated.

The decision to disable the student’s portal was made under the directive of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Jimoh Shaykh-Luqman, pending further investigation by the Student Disciplinary Committee. “We want to emphasize that KWASU places great importance on the principles of decency upheld by all religions and will not tolerate any actions that undermine these principles,” Dr. Aliyu reiterated.

The university’s swift response underscores its commitment to maintaining a respectful and disciplined academic environment. This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of upholding high standards of behavior and respect for others within the campus community.
